Dear Friends,
Soul Portraits have a way of knocking. My dearest and talented wife recently photographed the portraits painted in September last year. I painted them in the unknown. The artist/s* knew what was about to happen. I didn’t. The artist/s were kind and the bird I notice returned for a few. I had not painted soul-portraits for more then a year. I thought I was working. Then something compelled me and I rageously returned and painted the above in a number of weeks.
Then one day I was awakened. I sounded broken, I spoke unintelligibly. I forgot almost everyone’s name, friends, colleagues, some family. I was given a chance to live. I greeted the medical report with calmness, didn’t really think about it too much as my mind was opened just enough and it understood things I didn’t even know were things to know. Its been a wonderful year.
I look forward. I paint. I pray. I sing starting today but need friends to sing as well or with me. It doesn’t matter I don’t have a voice, the singing is from the heart and head, the singing I so need, the singing I will share. Painting I can do. I hope the soul-portraits are helpful. Many speak to me. I almost hear the singing.
