8898 Soul Portraits to go.

Dear Reader,

Hmm, delightful to me, these paintings, I could look at them for some time, so many words, so many thoughts. I’m seeing them now for the first time. I remember arriving home from intensive care (see: ‘The Day Before’) in the early evening driven by my son and had a nurturing and nutritious dinner cooked by my love, Esther. Thank you family for this and all that you have done.

Then I painted. I squeezed black paint out of the tube, it looked wrong. Would I be able to paint again, would colors look the same, would my arm be able to move. I started again and pushed forward. The Soul Portrait above was the first I painted (soul 1,098) and then I painted four more over the next 24 hours. Soul portrait 1,098, he was good to see.  His eyes and look were gentle and kind and I looked back and said, OK, i’m back, I’m home.

Moving forward,
Dan

PS: This letter was written in February, looking back on this particular day when the paintings were painted.
