Brothers and Sisters,
I was thinking about Iraq yesterday. What a fine place it was when Arabs and Jews lived together, were neighbors in a foreign land.
I recently heard of two Jewish women in mid-century Iraq, before the troubles, who were famous singers throughout the country. Instead of finding their music online I discovered A-WA!, three Israeli sisters who sing in beautiful and sweet Arabic. Their music is now spreading through the Arab world, Israel and the Middle East. Aha!
I painted and listened to the songs. It was joyous and fun. It helped my troubles. The negative thoughts against Israel and Arabs contaminate the air. I don’t watch TV but the cranky energy and false reporting finds a way in (I wonder how it does that). I think of saying, come on, do better folks, please…and send that bad energy back into the air, back to where it comes from.
We celebrate while they hate.
So, aha! to A-WA, It means YES in Arabic.
