Dear Brothers and Sister,
Prayer is a way for us to talk. There are many ways to pray.
Yesterday, soon to be tired from a long walk, but happy to have made it, I arrived at a far away synagogue. I listened to the singing and the prayers.
I read one prayer, slowly, and then again. I believe it was a psalm. It had been years since I stepped into a house of prayer.
A phrase in the psalm grabbed me, surprised me. The room became small and large at the same time. There was just me. The prayer service of course continued but I didn’t see it or hear it. I was in a small house of prayer but for a moment I wasn’t there. The room became the size of heaven, infinite in light and full of peace. And then I was back.
There are many ways to know who we are and what we need to do. This worked for me on the most recent peaceful day of Shabbat. May it work for you, wherever you go.
