We Need To Be As One Heart

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

I read something interesting while searching new Middle Eastern music to listen to as I paint.

One Arab sister, Nissren Kader, won a popular Israeli music award, not too surprising in this friendly land. What caught my attention was this, an older Israeli man, born in Iran, was quoted as saying he was very pleased. He said “…we need to be as one heart”.

Given the way things have been between us for a million yesterdays, “one heart” is an excellent thought, a one-sentence haiku poem. To me it sings about forgiveness.

Think about the idea of a heartbeat, let’s listen to our hearts, hold your hand to your chest or take your pulse. A million yesterdays could be forgiven and forgotten because there is one heart. Even today our hearts beat together, your heart beats with mine.

Like our Israeli brother, who’s heart was open to love despite his experience in a foreign land (each reader can look at the truth of what happened in Iran), we can be open to extraordinary kindness.

Thank you, Nissren Kader, you have helped two hearts beat together as one.

And soon more.

With Love,

Daniel
