I’ll add to the story. What we think of as our “reality” is actually an illusion.
A man I know recently mentioned the fruit seed of an ancient date palm, a seed more then 2,000 years old was found and planted. The seed returned to life. Fruit. The last time the tree leaves breathed, the Beit Hamikdash, the Holy Temple, was alive and the Sinai revelation was still with us, a recent echo.
Yes, the seed woke up, returned to having it’s purpose and vitality. The seed’s reality had been to be left in the dark, hidden in the remains of a ruined palace where people had died (that is where it was found); that was not its purpose, nor was sitting in an office desk drawer for forty years – that was not it’s reality.
We can embrace seeds like this. Why do so many people think our future is an illusion? We are a seed blooming even if thought to be nearly extinct. The simple idea of us returning to our friendship, Jews and Arabs, our birth, our soulful connection, our father Abraham, is a reality, as much as an extinct 2,000 year old seed blooming. Its a way to describe something wonderful. Rejoice.
We are brothers and sisters…we are seeds…the life-giving rain is coming and our reality will turn out to have been nothing but an illusion.
