8,730 Soul Portraits to go!

Brothers and Sisters,

I paint to music.

Portraits in black and white.

Black and white came back, this time for all five portraits. It didn’t have to. I didn’t plan it. The first portrait is kind of funny (soul-portrait 1,266). I rushed to have one done before the evening knowing I would rework and continue if needed. Its not complete but also is in some ways so it stays.  The next four came late on Saturday, all different studies in black and white. Some of the faces are gentle, perhaps profound or personal, even with a hint of contentment. The final portrait (soul-portrait 1,270) is someone who knows something and looks angry but actually is not angry. This pleases me.

Looking For Help.

Yes, I often paint with music playing. It helps to create the space where I paint and disappear. Recently Jewish and Arab musicians have been playing – musicians from the last century and from the Maghreb region, North Africa, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia. I want to know more. Who should I listen to, who were the musicians? Tell me about the musicians and music if you can and even more about their lives. A very big thank you!

Your Artist,

Daniel
